PHOTŒIL
"The Flemish Liner"
During the 30s, after the deco movement, modern architecture found inspiration in transatlantic liners, hence the nickname "Streamline Moderne": balconies, curving forms referring to the ship's rail, masts, flagpoles, portholes...
This beautiful example of that typical architecture was designed and built by the Flemish architect Gentil Van Eeckhoutte (1906-63) from Waregem, Belgium.
This book is a journey in this little masterpiece, and refers to other buildings from the same time in Europe.
