PHOTŒIL
The first gardening book I ever made photo’s for was a tribute to Louis Lens, an icon in the world of roses, called “De Elegantie en de Roos”. This wonderful and generous man spend his last days participating to this project. Once ‘his’ book was published, hardly two months later, Louis died. It felt like I contributed to a monument erected in honor to one of Belgium’s greatest rose hybridizers, in 1969 he won the A.A.R.S. prize with his rose Pascali, a white hybrid tea.
This book received a few prizes, among one in Japan.
The second is a book about Mochata Hybrids: “Uitbundig Bloeiende Rozen”. The first book entirely dedicated to this wonderful variety of roses. The author Ann Velle is, together with her husband Rudy, the driving power behind LENS-ROSES, the successors of the original Louis Lens Roses, doing a wonderful job in keeping alive and expanding the heritage of
